On July 1st, a grand gathering celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China was held at Tian'anmen Square, Beijing. Compared to the military parade on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, this event has higher requirement for sound reinforcement on coverage, including the gatetower, Tian’anmen square, gun salute area, etc.

The speech of president Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, would be one of the most significant parts of the whole event, which requires minimum grade of the coverage. Based on this, Syva is the perfect solution with impactful SPL and visual discretion. In the celebration over hundreds of Syva speakers were deployed in different areas.

As for the back of the square, KARA II was chosen as the main and K1 was used in fire salute cannons area. As the stage monitor on gatetower, X8 was designed with adjustable runners and corner stops to deliver the best sound at any time based on the actual needs. The Jack of all trades, L-Acoustics X12 is not only served as the stage monitor on chorus department, but also as the fill application on each side of the gatetower.

DiGiCo manages the areas including: Tian’anmen auditorium, Tian’anmen Square, gatetower and along the Chang'an Street. As the site signal sources are also more complex, including local microphone, local program sources and mixed signal sources of feeder system processing. In this grand celebration, each DiGiCo console set up with redundant hot back-up of highly security. Three SD7 consoles were used as the main desks, two of them delivered digital signals and provided redundant hot back-up; the other one was for analoy signal. The three worked together helping the security increased.

Due to the limitation of the venue, the compact SD11 was the perfect solution deployed on gatetower working for the speech audio processing. The DiGiCo SD12 was served for the national flag guard, which also adapted redundant hot back-up.

When consoles are adapted in redundant hot back-up, they generally are placed next to each other. However, the two SD7 consoles were connected by fiber optic network to achiever the monitor use for the distance issue in the event.
