Founded in 1912, the second year of the Xinhai Revolution, Xi'an Yisu Society is one of the three oldest theater companies in the world.
In 2006, the theater was listed as major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level, and on December 2, 2017, the Xi'an Society was selected as the second batch of China's 20th century architectural heritage.
In 2020, Qujiang New District proposes to invest 2.337 billion yuan to build a cultural district with Yisu society as the center, integrating Qin opera, Chinese and foreign theater exchange, museum display, opera education and cultural creativity. Among them, the theater of the Yisu Grand Theatre has also been upgraded, which includes the audio system.
